Ingredients

Cupcakes
  • 12 Fully cooled cupcakes Any cupcakes you like, homemade or store-bought.
Frosting
  • 1 batch White buttercream-style frosting Smooth and pipeable for tall swirls.
Strawberry Toppings
  • 12 Fresh strawberries Washed, thoroughly dried, and trimmed to create a flat base.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start with completely cooled cupcakes. Bake or prep your cupcakes and let them cool to room temperature.
  2. Get the frosting smooth and ready to pipe. Stir or whip the frosting until it's smooth, thick, and can hold a peak.
  3. Wash, dry, and trim the strawberries into hats. Rinse and dry the strawberries thoroughly, then trim the bases for stability.
Assembly
  1. Pipe a tall swirl of frosting on each cupcake, creating a snowy cone shape that can support the strawberry.
  2. Add the trimmed strawberry on top of the frosting swirl, pressing gently for security.
  3. Finish with a small dot of frosting on the tip of each strawberry to make the classic Santa hat pom-pom.

Notes

Drying the strawberries well is crucial; any moisture can cause the frosting to slide. For best results, assemble cupcakes right before serving.
