Ingredients

For the Patties
  • 1.5 lbs Lean ground beef
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper to taste
For the Gravy
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 3 cups Milk Adjust the amount based on desired thickness.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, plus salt and pepper. Mix just until it comes together to keep the patties tender.
  2. Shape the mixture into 6 patties, pressing them to an even thickness.
Cooking the Patties
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 4–5 minutes per side until they’re well-browned.
  2. Transfer browned patties to an oven-proof plate and keep warm in a 300°F oven for 15 minutes.
Making the Gravy
  1. In the same skillet, melt the butter and whisk in flour and spices until the mixture turns golden brown.
  2. Gradually add the milk while whisking. Keep whisking until the gravy thickens to a creamy consistency.
  3. Return the patties to the skillet and simmer in the gravy for 2–3 minutes.

Notes

For the best results, don’t overmix the beef and aim for a deep golden crust on the patties. Keep whisking while adding milk to ensure a smooth gravy.
