Ingredients

Dough Base
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Heat-treated in the microwave.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar Pack to ensure the correct sweetness and flavor.
  • 1/2 cup butter (salted or unsalted, softened) Use unsalted butter and add salt if desired.
  • 2–4 tbsp milk Adjust for desired texture.
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch tsp salt Omit if using salted butter.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Use mini chips for denser chocolate.

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat-treat the flour by placing it in a microwave-safe bowl and microwaving in 20-second bursts, stirring well until the flour reaches 165°F, typically taking 40–60 seconds. Let it cool to room temperature.
Mixing
  1. In a stand mixer or bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium speed until fluffy and lighter in color.
  2. Mix in the cooled flour, vanilla extract, and salt (if using) until the flour disappears and the dough looks uniform.
  3. Add milk 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing briefly after each addition until the dough reaches your desired consistency.
  4. Gently fold in the chocolate chips to keep them whole.
Serving
  1. Enjoy immediately for a softer texture or chill in the refrigerator for a firmer feel.

Notes

For best results, cool flour completely before mixing, pack the brown sugar, and stop mixing once the flour is incorporated. Use milk to control texture, thicker dough uses less milk.
