Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder For bold chocolate flavor.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature) Helps the cookies bake tender.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Adds sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar Adds chewiness and caramel flavor.
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature) Blends better when at room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Adds creamy sweetness and molten pockets.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the room-temperature butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Mix in the eggs and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until even.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until no dry flour or cocoa is visible.
  6. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each.
Baking
  1. Bake the cookies for 10–12 minutes until the edges look set but the centers remain soft.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet until firm enough to lift.

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients for the best texture. Stop mixing as soon as the dry ingredients disappear to keep the cookies tender.
