  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika Adds depth to the flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • as needed Cooking spray or a small amount of oil To prevent sticking in the air fryer.

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel and thinly slice the onion into rings or strips, ensuring they are about the same thickness for even cooking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly blended.
  3. Toss the onion slices in the dry mixture, ensuring they are thoroughly coated.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or brush it with oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Place the coated onions in a single layer within the air fryer basket. Work in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding.
  4. Air fry for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking, until the onions are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the crispy onions and allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Ensure onion slices are uniform for even cooking and avoid overcrowding the air fryer for optimal crispiness. You can adjust spices for flavor preference or add cayenne for heat. Store leftover crispy onions in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
