  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Measure without packing to avoid density.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Whisk well into flour for even distribution.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Lightly sweet; optional to reduce for less sweetness.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk Use until smooth.
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil Can substitute with another neutral oil.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the wet ingredients: milk, vegetable oil, and egg until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; batter will be thick and lumpy.
  5. Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden; a toothpick should come out clean when inserted.
  2. Allow the loaf to cool before slicing to ensure a tender crumb.

Notes

For best results, don’t overmix the batter, and allow the loaf to cool completely before slicing.
