Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Optional Glaze
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for drizzling

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, and packed brown sugar until fluffy and lighter in color.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla until the mixture looks cohesive and glossy.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until combined.
  6. Split the dough in half and roll each half into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over each rectangle.
  8. Roll each rectangle up tightly into a log and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  9. Cut the chilled logs into 1/2-inch rounds.
  10. Place rounds on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  12. If desired, drizzle with powdered sugar glaze once cooled.

Notes

Use softened butter and cream cheese for the best texture. Make sure to chill the logs adequately to maintain proper shape when slicing.
