- In a medium saucepan, combine the pitted cherries, granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the cherries soften and release their juices.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the syrup to steep for about 20 minutes to enhance the flavor.
- Strain the cherry syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher, discarding the solid cherry remnants.
- Add the fresh lime juice to the strained syrup and stir well to combine all the flavors.
- Pour in the remaining 3 cups of cold water, stirring to dilute the syrup. Chill the mixture until you're ready to serve.
Serving
- Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves and lime slices for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
For best results, allow the cherry syrup to steep longer for deeper flavor. Adjust sweetness to your liking and make ahead for gatherings.
