Ingredients

For the Cherry Syrup
  • 2 cups fresh cherries, washed & pitted Choose sweet, ripe cherries for best flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 cup water For cooking the cherries.
For the Limeade
  • 1.5 cups fresh lime juice Essential for the tart flavor.
  • 3 cups cold water To dilute the syrup.
  • 3-4 cups ice For serving.
  • 2-3 cups Sprite (or other lemon-lime soda) Optional, adds fizz to the drink.
  • Fresh mint leaves, lime slices, and whole cherries for garnish Optional garnish for presentation.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the pitted cherries, granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the cherries soften and release their juices.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the syrup to steep for about 20 minutes to enhance the flavor.
  3. Strain the cherry syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher, discarding the solid cherry remnants.
  4. Add the fresh lime juice to the strained syrup and stir well to combine all the flavors.
  5. Pour in the remaining 3 cups of cold water, stirring to dilute the syrup. Chill the mixture until you're ready to serve.
Serving
  1. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves and lime slices for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

For best results, allow the cherry syrup to steep longer for deeper flavor. Adjust sweetness to your liking and make ahead for gatherings.
